Been There

We have been in Korea for a whole year. It's hard to describe how we feel about these last twelve months, and the fact that we are now going home, so we'll keep it brief.

Coming to Korea was a good decision. There is more to it than that, of course, but that is the take-home message. Korea is a beautiful country with a rich and fascinating culture, and we feel so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to live and learn and grow here, if only for one year. A lot has happened in this time; we have met people, visited places, and witnessed a life we would never have been exposed to had we stayed home. Regardless of the costs or challenges, we have profited from our time here.

The most significant benefits of having lived abroad have likely not yet emerged. We expect they will be revealed over time as we adjust to life back in New Zealand. Knowledge and experience gained in Korea will colour how we view the places and people we grew up with, and we hope we will now see Aotearoa with fresh eyes.

  1. I wish you and Steve only the best the world has to offer. Much love.

  2. Very wise and insightful, you have certainly done a lot of learning and growing.
